Position Summary

The General Aviation Parts Manager is responsible for overseeing inventory control, procurement, administrative functions, and distribution of aircraft parts and supplies to support maintenance operations. This role ensures compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and industry standards while maintaining cost-effective and efficient parts management. The Parts Manager serves as the primary liaison between vendors, maintenance personnel, and management to ensure timely availability of required parts and materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the Parts Department, including procurement, receiving, stocking, and issuing of aviation parts and supplies.
  • Develop and maintain an effective inventory management system to minimize shortages and excess stock while ensuring readiness for maintenance activities.
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to ensure FAA-compliant, cost-effective purchasing, and high-quality parts.
  • Maintain accurate records of all parts transactions, including purchase orders, invoices, and certifications.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company procedures, and industry best practices regarding traceability, shelf life, certifications, and storage of aircraft parts.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Department to forecast parts requirements and establish stocking levels.
  • Implement and monitor processes for parts return, warranty claims, and core exchanges.
  • Develop and maintain the Full Physical Inventory and Cycle Count Program and processes to ensure inventory and controls accuracy.
  • Train and supervise parts department staff to ensure high levels of service, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Prepare departmental reports on inventory levels, purchasing activity, and budget performance.
  • Ensure safe handling, labeling, and storage of hazardous materials in accordance with all regulations, including maintenance of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve parts processes and vendor relationships to optimize cost and service levels.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, or Business preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in parts management, procurement, or supply chain, preferably in general aviation.
  • Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of FAA regulations regarding aircraft parts and documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of aircraft parts, components, and maintenance support operations in general aviation.
  • Proficiency with inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle aircraft parts and materials.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting at a computer.
  • Ability to work in warehouse and hangar environments with varying conditions.
